Assistance to old people
The Fund of Understanding pays the most attention to the care of seniors. During her foreign trips, Mrs Dagmar Havlová is frequently confronted with the fact that, unlike other countries, the elderly in the Czech Republic are often neglected and pushed to the fringe of society. The public focuses more on children, people with disabilities, and ethnic minorities, i.e. those whom the Foundation also helps. However, taking care of our elderly citizens and enabling them to live in more dignified conditions are also important. Dagmar Havlová herself is deeply engaged in these activities and makes regular visits to hospices and homes for the elderly. Steady financial and moral support from the Foundation has been received for several years by the Home of St. Charles Boromejský and the Home of the Holy Family in Prague – Liboc, to the operation of which the Foundation contributed more than CZK 1,350,000 and which is regularly visited by Mrs. Havlová.
