Dagmar and Václav Havel awarded the Recognition for the Philosophy of Education and for the Renewal of University Ideas
On June 22nd 2010, at the domicile of the Foundation VIZE 97, Mrs. Dagmar Havlová and Mr. President Václav Havel awarded the “Recognition for the Philosophy of Education and for the Renewal of University Ideas” to Prof. Jan Sokol, Ph.D., CSc. Professor Sokol, a significant czech philosopher, former dissident, politician and translator, has become the sixth laureate of the “Recognition,” which comprises of an honorary diploma by the artist Jiří Plieštika and a financial award of 97 000 Czech korunas, which symbolises the year in which The Dagmar and Václav Havel Foundation VIZE 97 was established. “Recognition” is awarded annually within the scope of the project “Supporting Education” through which the Foundation supports the education of gifted Czech students at foreign universities, while also giving consideration to the other side of the intelligible “institute,” that is to say, significant professors.
