Dagmar Havlová has planted a rare tree species in Prague’s Botanic Garden
On Wednesday, 15th of May 2013, Dagmar Havlová visited the Botanic Garden in Prague and joined the Roots of Personalities project. She has planted her tree in the Japanese garden – Japanese Maple (Acer palmatum), after personalities such as Vaclav Havel, Madeleine Albright, Miloš Forman and others from the Czech Republic or from abroad. By planting trees by the most significant personalities of the present a Personality Path was created, which consists of more than 56 of planted rare trees and plants. The aim of the project is to attract attention of the public to the very rare natural riches that the garden disposes of – interesting, endangered and almost annihilated plants and trees. Dagmar Havlová has also reminded that herself along with the president Václav Havel, came with a similar project at the end of the 90s. At that time in Lány, they introduced the tradition of planting trees by foreign personalities, who came for state visits and brought a tree species from their homelands. Dagmar Havlová wished for some kind of visible memories of significant visitors and a memory on their country. An interesting and exotic collection of tree species was collected and in the end not only from state visits, but also from other significant personalities and not only from abroad. Arboretum of Dagmar and Václav Havel is situated in the complex of ecological gardens Botanicus in Ostrá near Lysá nad Labem.
