Dagmar Havlová Presents the Nurse of the Year Award

On 26 February 2008, Prague’s Žofín Palace hosted the Nurse of the Year 2007 ceremony. As usual, the event was held under the auspices of the VIZE 97 Foundation, led by Mrs. Dagmar Havlová, Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees. Mrs. Havlová also presented the Lifetime Achievement Award in Nursing.

The Nurse of the Year award ceremony is designed as a thank-you event to express gratitude for the enduring and self-sacrificing work of nurses, not only the winners, finalists and nominees, but also all the others. The purpose of the Nurse of the Year 2007 award is to improve the awareness that nursing work is very important.

The Nurse of the Year 2007 award was presented in three categories again: Hospital and Out-Patient Nurse, Nurse in Social Services, and Nurse in Research and Education. Candidates had been proposed by co-workers, superior nurses or physicians. Furthermore, the Lifetime Achievement Award in Nursing, by editorial staff and editorial board of the Sestra (Nurse) professional magazine, will also be bestowed.
