Heart in Brussels – greetings from Dagmar Havlová
The heart as such symbolizes intuition and intellect in the Eastern world, and feelings and love in Western civilization. I think that everything Václav ever did, was done in harmony with these values and he always added a small heart to his signature. I am glad that the heart from Prague Castle, where it was lit up in 2002, has now moved to Brussels, because Václav Havel was a tremendous supporter of the European idea and emphasized sharing cultural and spiritual values, which cut across Europe. Thus a European bonding will take place on Monday evening and thousands of people here and abroad will commemorate his memory and the values he fought for.
I regret that I am not able to be present this time, but I would like to at least take this opportunity to thank everyone who has participated in or contributed to the dignified remembrance of my husband on the eve of the anniversary of his death. In particular, Vice-Chairman Oldřich Vlasák and Jiří David. Just at this moment, the Holy Mass is beginning in St. Anne’s Church, which is administered by our VIZE 97 Foundation. We will be thinking about you and praying for you.
I am sure that Václav would be very happy.
Yours truly,
Dagmar Havlová
