Meeting of the Education Board
Members of the Education Board, led by Chairwoman Dagmar Havlová and Vize 97 founder Václav Havel, finalised the current conditions of the new selection process for granting the scholarships in 2009 at the meeting. The conditions remained unchanged, and scholarship applicants can find them – along with a downloadable application – at the following websites, in the news item which details the selection process.
The Board also discussed the name of a new laureate of the “Recognition for the Philosophy of Education and for the Renewal of University Ideas”. This award is ceremonially presented by the Education Board in the Foundation, together with a commemorative diploma and a cheque for CZK 97,000, symbolising the year of the Foundation establishment. The award is presented to distinguished scientists-educators for their lifetime achievement and service to their field of activity. In the past years, the award was given, for example, to philosopher Prof. Radim Palouš, musicologist PhDr. Zdeněk Šesták, theologian ThDr. Oto Mádr, or scientist and philosopher Zdeněk Neubauer. The name of this year’s laureate will be published within the next few days.
