Closing ceremony of the Golden Prague International Television Festival

On 20th October, the Žofín Palace hosted many significant guests, including the Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation VIZE 97, Mrs Dagmar Havlová. Upon this occasion, prizes were awarded in the great hall to the best films in the 47th year of the Golden Prague International Television Festival and at the same time the evening was also the festival’s closing ceremony. Mrs Havlová presented one of the evening’s prizes, that being the VIZE 97 Foundation Award which went to the film “Keep the Beat” by the director Olga Sommerová. The director received not only a diploma, but also a symbolic cheque at the amount of 30,000 CZK. The money should assist the artists in their further work and it should also provide moral support for television and film art. The Dagmar and Václav Havel Foundation VIZE 97 has participated in the festival since 2002 and the prize was presented for the ninth time.

The Foundation VIZE 97 thoroughly appreciated summary documentary “Keep the Beat” which was produced by Czech Television and was based on the Chap-book Project which was inspired by the Berlin Philharmonic´s successful concept Rhythm is it! It is an extraordinary performance; a playful and creative approach of the film-makers towards the collaboration between dance professionals and complete beginners. The documentary shows the transformation of the originally indifferent and unqualified children, their joy at their own achievement and the knowledge they have gained and lessons learned through working together on a creative artistic work.
