Virtual tour of Office of Václav Havel
After three years of hard work and digitisation of the premises the Dagmar and Václav Havel Foundation VIZE 97 opens the Office of Václav Havel. “The broad vision is to enable the general public to tour the premises where the former president spent many years after leaving the Castle, including a tour of his personal belongings. Those are on permanent loan from Dagmar Havlová. The visitors can also view certificates of merit, awards from foreign universities, photographs, and the like.,” adds Vangelis Zingopis, Director of Foundation VIZE 97.
“Since 6 April people can view on their mobile devices or computers the premises that witnessed a great many historic meetings. The Office of Václav Havel was visited by American President Bill Clinton, Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness The Dalai Lama, Joan Baez, Tom Stoppard, Kofi Annan, Lou Reed, Suzanne Vega, and others. The beautiful premises designed by the architect Bořek Šípek house a number of valuable objects and presents from our friends from the whole world,” as Dagmar Havlová comments the project.
The virtual tour will be open to visitors in two language versions at the web address www.vaclavhavel.com. It will be also available in AppStore as an application for iPhones and iPads and in the future it will be extended for Android. The applications can be downloaded for free and the tour of the first room will be also for free, including all the exhibits. A fee will be charged for entry to the other rooms. Visitors from the Czech Republic will pay a fee of 80 crowns and those from abroad 2.99 euros. “After deduction of the operators’ charge this sum will be used for further development of the application and administration and maintenance of the premises,” says Vangelis Zingopis. For more user comfort payments can be made by credit card, PayPal or via the Apple account. To enhance the experience the tour will be accompanied by music of the famous composer Organ Orchestrovich Bauer.
