President Václav Havel’s thank you letter

I would like to thank all of my friends and acquaintances who came to the celebration of my seventieth birthday for their participation and for the gifts. There were many of them, which naturally delighted me. I would also like to thank all those citizens who congratulated me in writing or sent me various gifts. I will endeavour to remain among you for a while to come and to do some good.
