Fund of Understanding Project has been ended
The Board of Trustees of the Dagmar and Václav Havel Foundation VIZE 97 decided at its 35th meeting on 14 January 2014 to end the Fund of Understanding Project, through which for more than fifteen years we extended our help to individual citizens who found themselves in difficult life, social or financial situations.
Already since 1997, thanks to this social project called Small Account, we have managed to help citizens in the Czech Republic, who found themselves in difficult life situations without their own fault. Since 2000, when the program was renamed to the Fund of Understanding, the Foundation has received thousands of requests for assistance and has distributed more than 35 million crowns over the entire duration of the project.
The main reason for ending the project is the fact that the Foundation VIZE 97 has several very demanding projects in its portfolio, such as the Prague Crossroads – the preservation and restoration of the Church of St. Anne, the Dagmar and Václav Havel Foundation VIZE 97 Prize, Early Diagnosis and Prevention of Colon and Rectal Cancer, the St. Nicholas Charity Bazaar and currently preparatory work is underway for a new unique project, which will be closely linked with President Václav Havel. In order for all of these projects to function well, it was essential for us to give up one of the current projects.
In recent years, other foundations have also been established, which are specifically aimed at supporting citizens, who can not get out of difficult life situations on their own. Therefore, we believe that all of these individuals, who will no longer be able to turn to us with a request for financial assistance this year, will find another non-profit organization that will help them with their needs.
