The Nurse of the Year 2010

Dagmar Havlová became the patron of the Nurse of the Year 2010 award ceremony for the eleventh time. Since its beginnings, this virtuous event has been regularly held under her auspices, granted on behalf of the VIZE 97 Foundation. First, Mrs Havlová had a glass of wine with the event organisers and nominated nurses in the Žofín Palace. After the official opening of the evening, Mrs Havlová thanked all nurses, not only the nominated and present ones, for their commitment in her welcome address.

At the conclusion of the evening, she presented the main Lifetime Achievement Award in Nursing to Mrs Anna Chrzová from the Prague’s General University Hospital (VFN). Ms Chrzová worked twenty years as a staff nurse in VFN. Her work was mainly concentrated on education. Gradually, she managed to develop various forms of education, to unify the attitude of nurses to patients and the nursing methods, and also to create a new system of leading for non-medical staff.

Other awards presented during the evening included the Hospital and Outpatient Nurse Award to Jirina Spelinová from Pardubice; the Social Care Nurse Award to Ms Ludmila Kadlecová, who works in the Luhacovice rest home; and the Research and Education Nurse Award to Ms Jitka Pancirová from the Prague´s Dialysis Unit Strahov.

After the closing of the event, Dagmar Havlová had a short session to talk to the winners and nominated nurses, when group pictures were taken, and Mrs Havlová gave short interviews to media
