VIZE 97 Award for Iva Mojžišova
Like all previous years, the Dagmar and Václav Havel VIZE 97 Foundation awarded the VIZE 97 Award. This year’s 13th Award has been granted to Mrs. PhD. Iva Mojžišová, Dr. h.c., who is a significant Slovak art theorist and philosopher. Thus she has become the second woman to receive this Award and the first laureate of Slovak nationality.
On the occasion of the VIZE 97 Award ceremony, the traditional mid-morning debate took place on 5th October at Prague Crossroads, with the Award laureate and invited guests, which included Assoc. Prof. Věra Ptáčková, Prof. Milena Bartlová, Eng. Monika Mitášová, Assoc. Prof. Fiala, Prof. Vojtěch Lahoda, Assoc. Prof. Zdeno Kolesár and Assoc. Prof. Šetlík. The two-hour debate on the theme “Criticism with understanding” was met with considerable interest of viewers, who could pose their questions to the laureate and other panel members and thereby join the second half of the discussion.
In the early evening, the climax of the entire day took place at Prague Crossroads, which was attended by more than six hundred guests. The VIZE 97 Award ceremony was held on the 75th birthday of Václav Havel. Prior to the actual ceremony itself, a traditional brief meeting with the Havels and sponsors was held over a glass of wine, which is a way of showing gratitude for their year round support and help.
Mrs. Táňa Fischerová, who led the entire event with her typical charm, welcomed Mrs. Mojžišova, the Havels and Mrs. Ptáčkova. In introduction to the meeting, Mr. President Václav Havel presented a short but precise speech. Mrs. Ptáčkova’s laudation followed and the actual climax of the whole evening took place – the presentation ceremony of the VIZE 97 Award, which consists of two parts – the commemorate diploma and crutch of Saint Vojtěch, which was made by Jiří Plieštik. After the Award was presented, the laureate made her speech. The entire course of the ceremony was accompanied by the Prague Students Orchestra and to finish, a brief music performance was given by the duo Lenka Kozderková and Lenka Mazourová.
The Dagmar and Václav Havel VIZE 97 Foundation presented the anthology called “Criticism with understanding”, a selection of editions of VIZE 97 Foundation Award laureates, to this year’s laureate Mrs. Mojžišová. Like the majority of anthologies from previous laureates, this anthology is available for purchase directly at the headquarters of the VIZE 97 Foundation in Voršilska Street (either in person or via our website in the VIZE 97 Award Library) or at selected bookshops.
